The service provided me with tools and support to get through– to help me cope and to help me stop the downward spiral. We are now exploring how to address some of the underlying issues that caused me to feel so bad in the first place. I feel so much better and able to deal with challenges. I have a toolkit to help if I need it and I’m moving forward.
During the first lock down, I required support in relation to my mental health but I was hesitant to seek support from a team within the organisation I worked for. I was quickly put at ease by the service and I now receive regular sessions with a therapist that is down to earth, approachable and reliable. I would thoroughly recommend any member of staff to be referred or self-refer–if you have any concerns to raise them with your manager so they can be explored just like I did.
The supervision improves the quality of our practice, challenges our thinking and helps us to understand ourselves and our interactions with clients and each other.
The service has been essential for the wellbeing of the team and I think as a consequence the clients have benefitted indirectly from our better understanding of their issues and needs.
